What art studio lighting lamps and lamp bulbs do you recommend?
My favorite light source is a decades old, incredibly well built Dazor combo fluorescent incandescent cool warm drafting lamp. It clamps to my work surface and the quality of light has been perfect for table top painting. Sadly, it may be nearing the end of its very helpful life.I would like to replace it with two stand alone lamps, one on either side of my table. I could then move them around to accommodate my table top and free standing easels. The " ideal" description of the stand alone lamp is 1. The lamp cord must be at the base of the lamp, it cannot hang from the reflector. I have a Testrite Artist Studio Light and the cord hangs down from the reflector socket and is always getting in my way similar to utrechtart.com dsp view product.cfm?item 32397 . 2. The lamp must be sturdy, lightweight and tolerate being moved about.3. The lamp's height should be adjustable to 6' . I considered the Ottlite, but it doesn't telescope and it is not bright enough for my taste. If it adjusted upwards to 6' and was brighter, it would be acceptable. 4. The lamp's socket reflector should easily rotate. The Testrite reflector ball joint clamp is a pain to loosen and swivel. 5. The lamp should accept an incandescent or a daylight full spectrum incandescent style lamp bulb i.e., 75 watt North Light Bulb, Chromalux . I've ruled out halogen too much heat. Also, any insight from my fellow artists into fluorescent ceiling fixtures and lamping for fine art painting would be appreciated and considered.Thank you for helping.M T, I was hoping you would respond to my question. You've given me a lot of options to explore. Thank your for the answer s and the link to BlueMax. I've never before come across that product.
