Unknown old, fragile dolls?
Upon an emptying of my passed away grandmother's house, my parents found a set of three, colored, tiny dolls. Two are about four inches in length, and one is two and a half inches. Each are covered in cloth, and the littlest has a tiny cloth diaper with tiny diaper pins. The cloth may be something my grandmother made. There's no brand markings on them that I can find, and to be honest they're a bit spooky. Big, painted eyes.... almost looks voodoo ish. The hair is separated into three pieces tied with now frayed string. I think they're made of porcelain, or bisque, maybe clay.If anyone can tell me what they are, if they're worth keeping, or just in general any ideas? My father calls them Americana Folk craft, and it does seem very folk y. Where can i find russian nesting matryoshka dolls in NYC?
i am looking for a decent perhaps medium sized set of russian matryoshka or nesting dolls in new york city, i have been unable to find them in toy stores such as FAO Schwartz and Toys R Us so i was wondering if perhaps there are any street vendors that regularly sell them or otherwise, thank you i need it for a school project.
